There is something about this time of year that just hits differently. The weather starts to shift, the days get longer, and the sawdust starts calling again. Carving season is right around the corner, and I could not be more excited to get back at it.
I recently made a trip to Idaho, and the energy was incredible. I had the chance to connect with great people, share my work, and talk carving. The interest in my pieces reminded me why I love doing this in the first place.
There is nothing better than seeing someone connect with a carving. Whether it is an owl, an eagle, a bear, or something custom, each piece tells a story. When someone sees that story and it means something to them, that is what it is all about.
This season, I am planning more carvings, more visits, and more opportunities to connect with people across the Northwest. I will also continue my carving retreats, helping others experience what it is like to create something with their own hands.
There is a different kind of focus and calm that comes with carving. Once you feel it, you understand. If Idaho was any indication of what is ahead, it is going to be a great season.
